Third Announcement
 Since March 11, Japan has been received an enormous disaster caused by significant earthquakes and the giant Tsunami, followed by the breakdown of nuclear power plants at Fukushima Prefecture in northern Japan. We Japanese very much appreciate the warm-hearted encouragement and financial aid from all over the world.
Kyoto Prefecture has, however, suffered no damage caused by these events, and has been kept at the ordinal normal radioactivity levels since last March. The number of foreign tourists visiting Kyoto quickly recovered during this summer. We would like to invite you to attend the 6th International Colloquium on Arboreal Squirrels without concerns.
Registration: Please click the “Registration” button at the top of the page to enter the registration form.
Schedule: February 3 (Fri.) Arrival and registration. Possibly stay at the “Monbou Kaikan”
          this night.
      4 (Sat.) Arrival and registration. Opening session in the morning.
           Welcome social party in the evening.
      5 (Sun.) Sessions in the morning, and Symposium “Forest and
           Squirrels” open to the public in the afternoon.
      6 (Mon.) Excursion.
      7 (Tue.) Sessions through the day. Farewell party in the evening.
      8 (Wed.) Final session until 12:00. Depart.

 All oral and poster presentations will be made in the conference hall at the "Monbou Kaikan" in Kyoto City, which also provides hotel facilities for all participants. See http://monbou.jp/index_e.shtml#a4 with map.

4th Announcement will come out in September, which will include the guideline for submitting abstracts, access and transportation, weather and temperature, food, and excursion and sightseeing in Kyoto.

Second Announcement
 
The time period and the location of 6th International Colloquium on Arboreal Squirrels are now fixed.
Presentations are scheduled from the morning of 4 February (Sat.) to the noon of 8 February (Wed.) in 2012. 
All oral and poster presentations will be made at the conference hall at the "Monbou Kaikan" in Kyoto City, which also provides hotel facilities for all participants.
Most participants will arrive at "Kansai International Airport" on 3 February and will stay at the "Monbou Kaikan" from 3 February to the morning of 8 February.

First Announcement
 
On behalf of the Local Organizing Committee, I am pleased to invite you to attend the 6th International Colloquium on Arboreal Squirrels that will take place in Kyoto City, Japan in February of 2012. Although actual dates are not fixed yet, we are scheduled around the first weekend of February targeting the 4th (Saturday) to 8th (Wednesday).
Scope: All aspects of the biology of tree and flying squirrels, including their ecology, behavior, physiology, conservation, phylogeny and interspecific relationships, relationship with forests and forest management, and evolutionary biology, are appropriate for presentations at the conference.
Schedule: Actual dates of the colloquium will be fixed by March 2011 and detailed in the second announcement. The third announcement in August of 2011 will provide the details of registration, which will be completed through the colloquium website (http://kyoto-squirrel.jp/index.html). Researchers who are interested in the colloquium and wish to receive further announcements should register their name and e-mail address with the colloquium e-mail list (6arboreal@kyoto-squirrel.jp).
History: The colloquium has been held every 3 years, and this is the 6th colloquium, after U.S.A (1994), U.S.A. (2000), England (2003), India (2006), and Canada (2009). Kyoto is an ancient city that has preserved old cultural heritages and scenic natural beauty for over 1000 years. The old royal palace, castles, and a thousand of temples and shrines will attract you, and some can be reached from the meeting place by walking.
Please share information on the 6th International Colloquium of Arboreal Squirrel with researchers around the world. The 6th ICAS provides a wonderful opportunity for researchers in Eastern and Western Hemispheres to join together and share their knowledge of this important group of mammals.
